Eye Examinations

A cataract is a clouding that appears in the crystalline lens of the eye. There are many types and varying degrees of cataracts. Most cataract changes first present in the seventh decade of life, although, they can form at any age. Factors such as history of smoking or second hand smoke, working outdoors, certain steroidal medications, and family history can all impact one’s odds of developing a cataract. These changes can affect our eye site in the form of glare, halos, and slowly blurring vision. The change in vision from an early, or immature, cataract can typically be improved by an update of the patient's prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Surgery should be considered once the crystalline lens becomes so cloudy that light can no longer pass through clearly. Modern cataract surgery can be performed by a specialist in an outpatient setting. Most patients can expect to return to work the following day. I work closely with a number of excellent cataract surgeons and will assist you in setting up your pre-operative consultation. Once your surgery has been performed I will examine your new lens implants and continue to provide you with ongoing care on an annual basis.

Steele Vision is dedicated to providing patients with their very best vision as well as preventing, detecting, and treating eye disease.
